John Neumeier's iconic adaptation of Shakespeare's ethereal and magical play is staged once again by the Houston Ballet as it returns as part of the 2023/24 season!
What is the story?
The course of true love never did run smooth, and on one Midsummer night, a hapless group of young lovers discovers just how off-course it can get when they take their confusing love rectangle into the forest, where they spend an evening in the company of warring fairy King and Queen, Oberon, and Titania, who have some relationship issues of their own.
At the mercy of these devious folk too, are the Mechanicals, a bumbling troupe of actors who just want to rehearse their play in peace, which proves rather difficult when their lead actor is transformed into a donkey...
