6LACK first began experimenting with music and lyrics in middle school as a battle rapper, years before releasing his debut album, 'Free 6lack', which reached number 34 on the Billboard 200 chart and earned him a nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2018 Grammys. In 2023, his recently released album, 'Since I Have a Lover', was nominated for 'Best Progressive R&B Album' at the Grammys.
