Why see Houston Grand Opera - La Boheme?

Opera's Greatest Love Story

Puccini's tantalizing tale of young artists, musicians, poets, and performers living on the edge of society continues to captivate now eyeing 130 years after its creation. Aided by a lush and memorable score, John Caird's exquisite production takes us on a journey back in time and into the lives, loves, hopes and dreams of history's most beloved bohemians. With Yaritza Veliz making her HGO debut as Mimi and Joshua Guerrero as her Rodolfo

What is the story?

Amongst a lively but destitute collective of artists, philosophers, and musicians, poet Rodolfo is entreated by Mimi, his beautiful and delicate neighbor to help her light her last candle. Losing his heart immediately he and Mimi embark on a dizzying relationship that captures the whole scope of Bohemian life, from raucous parties at various watering holes to spirited fights with their landlord. La Boheme is truly the ultimate paean to love, life and art.
