Houston Ballet - Raymonda at Brown Theater

Why see Houston Ballet - Raymonda?

Welch Adaptation

Houston Ballet present Stanton Welch's glorious adaptation of Marius Petipa's mesmerizing Raymonda, the last of the Grand 19th Century Russian Ballets. Featuring a full live orchestra performing Alexander Glazunov's score and spectacular costumes designed by Roberta Guidi di Bagno, don't miss this thrilling production!

What Is The Story?

In Petipa's classic we meet the titular Raymonda at Castle Doris on both her birthday and the eve of her wedding to the knight Jean de Brienne, who will arrive back from battle the next day. But as Raymonda dances with her friends an unwanted visitor appears at the door, Abderakhman, a warrior Saracen. Upon entering with his entourage, Abderakhman falls for Raymonda, and sets out to seduce her, much against her wishes. But Castle Doris has a mysterious guardian, the ghostly White Lady, and she is not having any funny business on her patch.
