Three marvelous works with Houston Ballet
Houston Ballet present three stunning works, headlined by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa's Broken Wings, a vivid and emotionally charged portrait of Frida Kahlo. Capturing the essence of Kahlo's art, the work mixes surrealism with music by Peter Salem featuring rich nods to Mexican folk traditions, as male dancers personify her iconic self-portraits.
Sharing the stage with Broken Wings are two other masterful works, with Jir Kylin's Petite Mort, set to the exquisite music of Mozart, juxtaposing sensual elegance with a meditation on mortality. Rounding out the program is a world premiere by Stanton Welch, set to Stereo is King by Grammy-winning composer Mason Bates.
