A world premiere by Alice Topp headlines Houston Ballet's Evening with the Stars, alongside masterworks by Stanton Welch and Jerome Robbins. Topp, whose evocative choreography has captivated audiences worldwide, returns to Houston Ballet to create a brand-new work for the Company, following her staging of Lighthouse for Houston Ballet II in 2019. Topp has established herself as a powerful voice in contemporary ballet, with works such as Aurum and Little Atlas earning critical acclaim and prestigious accolades.
Complementing Topp's new creation are two celebrated works from ballet's rich repertoire. Stanton Welch's Tapestry is a dazzling piece inspired by the intricate designs of a Turkish dobby loom set to Mozart's vibrant Violin Concerto No. 5, originally premiered by Houston Ballet in 2012. Jerome Robbins' Dances at a Gathering, an enduring masterpiece set to Chopin's piano compositions, offers a pure and intimate celebration of dance.
