Houston Ballet revives Stanton Welch's heartbreaking signature work, which, since 1995, has delighted audiences with the classic tale of a Japanese Geisha and her all-consuming love for an American Naval officer, Pinkerton. Believing she has found lasting happiness on their wedding, her devotion is misguided, and Pinkerton only sees her and their marriage as a stepping stone for his return to America to find his 'true bride'.
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

Designated by Congress as 'a vital American cultural ambassador to the world', it's been over 60 years since Alvin Ailey and his group of African-American dancers performed for the very first time at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.
