Guys And Dolls

Guys And Dolls at Sarofim Hall

Why see Guys And Dolls?

This musical icon is anything but a risky gamble!

Director Nick DeGruccio makes a welcome return to TUTS in summer 2018, helming a brand-new production of Guys and Dolls! Praised for setting the Houston stage alight with his recent production of In The Heights, DeGruccio has also helmed successful stagings of First Date (LA Mirada Theatre), Sondheim's Company (Cabrillo Music Theatre) and the LA Regional Premiere of Next To Normal (La Mirada Theatre). Guys And Dolls first premiered in 1950, and won five Tony Awards including Best Musical. Join us for a red-hot sizzler of a musical that tells of gamblers, gangsters and nightclub singers.

Finger-clickingly, toe-tappingly catchy!

Soaring with the spirit of Broadway and Damon Runyon's re-imagined version of New York City, Guys and Dolls introduces us to a cast of vivid characters who have become legends in the canon: Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight "mission doll," out to reform the evildoers of Time Square; Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love; Adelaide, the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact she's been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiance, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating crap game.

The toe-tappingly awesome soundtrack includes Broadway favorites such as Luck be a Lady, Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat and My Time of Day!

incredible!

This show has everything. Great acting, singing and choreography. It is as good as musicals get whether seen on Broadway or Vancouver. Words cannot do justice to the performance. The portrayal of Sky may never have been better and may never again be this good. ... Read more

Guys and Dolls

I’ve seen dozens of musicals in Chicago, New York and in many other cities. This show was as good as any show I have ever seen. Not hyperbole. Set and costumes were wonderful, dancing was terrific, Nicely, Nicely was great, the rendition of Rocking the Boat was fantastic. The four leads were excellent, Adilade, Sarah and Sky brought down the house with their singing, their performances were extraordinary. Cabaret scenes were beautiful and tastefully done. Could not recommend it more. ... Read more
