HILARIOUS

Tootsie is a hilarious musical that keeps you interested the whole time! I wouldn’t recommend bringing your children.

FANTASTIC

So very witty...we loved it. The acting, singing and storyline were fantastic and we laughed the entire time. Not meant for young children. My only negative would be the abrupt change to the reveal...should have kept up the comical aspect...but still is a 5 star.

SOMETIMES LESS IS MORE

I would actually give this 3 1/2 stars if that was an option. The leads are strong and there are plenty of laughs, some from the movie and many in the form of added jokes. But if you're expecting the classic film on stage with some songs, be prepared. There are many, many musical numbers, a few are funny, others are expositional, telling you the story, and many are introspective, reprised often. I'd guessing nearly 2 of the 2 1/2 hours are sung. The mood changes from comedy to "serious" and creates an unevenness about the production. Also, what was organic in the movie - like Tootsie's rise to prominence through her scenes in the soap opera, is reduced to some changes in a play that really don't amount to as much as the writers think they do. Yet, Tootsie is the talk of the town. There are a lot of laughs, and a LOT of songs (none of which you will remember). Overall it's a pleasant, yet choppy, ride. BUT, it's in previews so they can cut some songs - sometimes less is more.

What we thought

FUN Fabulous fierce

This is a classic musical comedy with laugh-a-minute dialogue, you can't go wrong.

Michael Dorsey (Santino Fontana) is a miserable overworked New Yorker throwing hours of his life into his survival job as a server, desperate to land an acting gig rooted in truth so he can live his dream.
