Why See George Strait?
The King Of Country Returns
Hold on to your stetsons ladies and gentlemen, because living Country legend George Strait is set to return to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo! The King Of Country first took to the RODEOHOUSTON stage in 1983, going on to celebrate many major milestones with attendees over its three decade-long lifespan. The only platinum honoree of the prestigious Star Trail of Fame, a tribute to stars that have made an impact on the show, Strait will close the 21 day event with a one-night-only performance of hits from throughout his stellar career.
Considered to be one of the most influential recording artists in all of the proud Western tradition, Strait earned the moniker of 'The King Of Country' when he brought the music back to its roots, shying away from the pop sheen of the 80s and spearheading the neotraditionalist country wave. With a cowboy look and a sonorous, timbre-rich voice, Strait commands the stage with an old school sense of charisma and poise, imbuing his performances with the soul of a freewheeling troubadour and the skill of a veteran. Since the Strait retired from touring in 2012, this is a rare chance to see and hear hits like 'Fool Hearted Memory' and 'Unwound' in all their live glory.
