Never Before Seen Groundbreaking Dance
Renowned for its championing of groundbreaking works from new voices in contemporary ballet, it's a night of premieres with the Houston Ballet. The evening begins with the return of Canadian choreographer Aszure Barton, who created a stir with the world premiere of Angular Momentum with the company in 2011. The rising dance star's wild energy, boundless enthusiasm, fierce originality and eclectic ideas meet in new work Come In, a modern work for thirteen male dancers.
Czech contemporary dance icon Jiri Kylian presents the Houston Ballet premiere of Dream Time, a time-bending work set to the lust orchestrations of Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu. Justin Peck also returns after the triumphant staging of his acclaimed Sufjan Stevens collaboration Year Of The Rabbit, with an as yet unnamed premiere work that will no doubt showcase his creative mastery of dynamic form and the balance between movement and music.
