Ars Lyrica Houston return to the Hobby Center in 2017 for a one-off performance of Scalable Heights, an evening of beautiful Baroque music featuring a trumpet, a harpischord and a vocalist - and nothing else! This production takes audiences back to the early 18th century European centers of music, where many of the great virtuosos honed their craft to delighted audiences. Featuring fast passagework, soaring heights and enchanting melodies, the artists of ARS play J.S. Bach's "Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen plus other beloved works.
Ars Lyrica was first founded in 1998 by harpsichordist and conductor Matthew Dirst as a core collective of Houston’s finest period-instrument musicians, joined regularly by international guest artists. Scalable Heights forms part of Lyrica's 2016/17 Fables And Follies season.
