Houston Symphony takes you out of this world!
A true treat for those obsessed with all things cosmic, Houston Symphony presents the final installment of the groundbreaking film trilogy that comprises The Planets and The Earth. With huge screens projecting wondrous HD images of the galaxies and beyond thanks to high-tech cameras including the Hubble Telescope, this is accompanied live by the Symphony playing Dvorak's ethereal Symphony No. 9, From the New World suite. It's a truly out-in-space experience, conducted by Andres Orozco-Estrada.
In addition to the main event, the Symphony will also perform Lutoslawski's Concerto for Orchestra, the last in the Polish composer's crowning triumph in celebrating traditional and folkloric Kurpie music. First performed in Warsaw in 1954, this piece was singlehandedly responsible for making Lutoslawski's reputation in the West across the Iron Curtain.
