There are some films that are synonymous with the holiday season and It's A Wonderful Life may be the best example of all! Experience the magic of this timeless tale live as the Houston Grand Opera presents a brand new world premiere of composer Gene Scheer and librettist Jake Heggie's take on the heartwarming classic.
Based on the famous 1946 film by Frank Capra as well as the 1943 short story The Greatest Gift by Phillip Van Doren Stern, the story follows George Bailey, a middle aged man who's watched his youth and ambitions slip through his fingers having allowed other responsibilities to get in the way of his dreams of travelling the world and building skyscrapers. As the depressed gent contemplates suicide on Christmas eve, he is visited by his guardian angel Clarence who has other plans...
